My Husband, My Best Friend

Many of you have seen this picture before.. it's the first picture Drew and I ever took together. We were out with a group of friends, not yet dating, both with other "significant others" :) It was a few days after my 25th birthday. The reason I'm showing it again is because it brings back so many memories.. I had feelings for Drew from the day I met him but I never felt like I "deserved" someone like him. I didn't think I would ever find a love like his.

This is a little excerpt from an email he sent me the Monday after this picture was made.. the Monday after we admitted we liked each other.. the Monday after we had lunch together and I told him every secret I ever kept inside..

"A-Love, Happy Monday to you. Your friend Drew is pretty sun burned today my dear, but he's toughing it out and ready to smile for the camera. I hope therest of your weekend was good for you. I wanted to thank you for inviting me to lunch on Saturday... A. It was a good excuse to get my ass out of bed. B. It was nice to learn more about you. C. I secretly wanted to see you. D. All of the Above. I think"D" will cover all of that :>) I appreciated all of your text messages throughout the weekend as well, they made me smile, and of course, they made me think of you a bit. I was really happy that we were able to have the opportunity to sit down and talk one on one. I wanted to do that with you for some time now, and it was nice to know we could talk and learn more about each other."

Melts my heart every time!

I felt like writing this post because I just read my friend Bonnie's blog and her friend Tara's blog. They are both widows with two young children. They were both pregnant with their second baby when their husbands were killed in car accidents. They became friends through these tragedies and are true "Women of God" who strive daily to understand what is meant for them in this life. They both make me appreciate Drew so much! I thank God for him everyday and pray that he will be kept safe. We couldn't make it without him :)
